How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Think Small.
How many times have you tried to change something about yourself, only to fail? Maybe you succeeded for a while, only to slide back into your old ways. Chances are it wasn’t what you wanted to change but how you tried to change that was the problem. People who don’t succeed at making changes often fail because they try to make too great a change too quickly – they try to “eat an elephant” all in one bite.
As you browse the Stress Recess site and do some of the exercises, we want to strongly encourage you to do very little. Don’t rush. Don’t try to do too much. Just Think Small. At the end of every section, think about trying one small thing as an experiment. Keep your expectations low, but your resolve to continue the change high.
Now, you are ready for the guided tour of Stress Recess: Level 1
