Zarina (pronouns: she/her/ella) is a Counselor in the Counselors in Academic Residence (CARE) Program, a program that provides mental health services in academic offices to facilitate students’ academic and life goals. She provides clinical services to UT For Me students and is available to provide consultation and prevention/outreach services to staff.
Zarina utilizes a relational, person-centered, strengths-based, and anti-oppressive approach to her work with students to support them. She is passionate about mental health, social justice, and addressing how to better support and increase access to mental health services for underrepresented populations through a trauma-informed lens. Zarina’s areas of professional interest include depression, anxiety, trauma, healthy relationships, boundary setting, and multiculturalism.
Zarina is also fluent in Spanish and can provide bilingual services to students who may feel more comfortable speaking in Spanish. Zarina hopes to create a safe and welcoming space for all who are seeking support where they can have a positive experience in their journey towards healing.
